The Bahja project is strategically located in Luton, within a predominantly residential area rich in community and religious establishments. The site benefits from excellent accessibility, being well-connected to major transport routes and within a 10-minute walk from the railway station. This prime location offers easy access to Luton Town Centre, enhancing the site's appeal for educational purposes.
Objective
Faum Architecture has been appointed to transform the existing Leaside Hotel into a vibrant educational and community facility. The project aims to preserve the architectural charm of the Victorian villa while converting it into a community-led educational center. This endeavor includes maintaining some residential accommodations to the rear and integrating spaces for learning, community interaction, and spiritual growth.

Architectural Harmony: The design blends traditional Victorian architectural elements with modern educational facility needs, creating a harmonious and inviting environment.
Community and Educational Focus: The lower ground floor serves as a community hub, hosting events and multipurpose activities, while the upper floors are dedicated to diverse educational programs from nursery to adult education.
Sustainable and Inclusive Design: The project includes Islamic-inspired gardens and pedagogical landscapes, fostering an environment of inclusivity and tranquility. The architecture facilitates experiential learning and community engagement.
Innovative Spaces: Features such as a welcoming Islamic garden, school rooftop garden/play area, and a waterfront terrace enhance the facility's aesthetic and functional appeal, providing spaces for contemplation, learning, and recreation.
